Dallas Institute of Funeral Service offers educational opportunities to those interested in funeral service as a career. 
The institute provides the theory portion and practical application of funeral service education preparing the student for entry into the profession and for a State and/or National Board examination enabling him/her to begin or continue apprenticeship or internship for licensure.

Purpose
The purpose of the College, as approved by the Board of Trustees, is to engage in all activities necessary, useful or expedient to promote and further interest in education, being primarily concerned with educational study and research, disseminating same and teaching the subject of embalming of the human dead; and the business and profession of funeral service.  

Accreditation
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Funeral Service Program at Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) 3432 Ashland Avenue, Suite U, St. Joseph, Missouri 64506 (816) 233-3747. Web: www.abfse.org The ABFSE is an agency recognized by the United State Office of Education.

Aims & Objectives
This institution is a non-profit corporation offering post high school education to persons interested in funeral service as a career.  The central purpose of the college is to give students an understanding of those areas of knowledge essential to their specialization.  The college is dedicated to the advancement of funeral service education and the funeral  service profession.  It is also dedicated to the ideal that all students: 

reach their full potential through service to all people, 
develop self-confidence by becoming vocationally, socially and ethically competent,
improve self-discipline as they strive to accomplish their goals through individual effort and group cooperation,
develop an attitude of a life-long learner.

Goals of the College

To provide a modern curriculum for the advancement of funeral service education,
To fulfill our commitment to the community, our students, and graduates and to the funeral service profession,
To maintain and advance high standards in academic subjects and in basic skills and techniques,
To provide each student with the opportunity to develop the technical skills and foundation for success in funeral service,
To provide each student with the opportunity to develop the technical skills and foundation for success in funeral service,
To encourage students to take an active role in community activities,
To develop in the students an appreciation of their responsibilities regarding moral and ethical conduct; reverence for the dead; protection of public health; and showing proper dignity, sympathy, efficiency, and confidence as they serve their communities,
To create an ongoing desire for professional growth through continuing education and graduate development,
To provide a basic understanding of human behavior and the practical application of that understanding to self and others,
To develop a responsible attitude towards the funeral service profession and to cooperate with its organizations and agencies,
To comply with licensure requirements relative to the profession.
To encourage research in the field of funeral service.
